Fall Worship Series: Women in the Bible

This fall our worship services will include some Sundays with a special focus. On the other weeks, we will have a series about Women in the Bible, based on the book Prone to Wander, by Joanna Harader. These five Sundays will focus on some of the often-overlooked women in scripture. We will reflect on these women's wilderness journeys with their doubts and their questions, being reminded that God does not leave us alone to wander in the wilderness. Lynne W is preparing some of the worship resources for this series.

Property & Maintenance Update:

New AED (Defibrillator)

This week we received our new AED (defibrillator), located in the upstairs lobby above the library counter. The new unit is very user-friendly with picture instructions and a video step-by-step display. Although we hope we re never required to use it, we are very grateful to have this life saving device at Valleyview. An AED awareness session will be held this fall for those interested. (Date to be announced soon.)

The ZOLL-3 AED is an automated external defibrillator designed to aid rescuers in treating sudden cardiac arrest. The unit can also provide real-time feedback on CPR quality through its Real CPR Help technology. It features a full-color LCD screen with visual and voice prompts, and universal CPR pads for both adult or pediatric use.

Intergenerational Faith Exploration Group this Fall:

This is an invitation for you to consider joining an intergenerational faith exploration group scheduled for this Fall. What I mean by Intergenerational is that Valleyview youth, young adults and older adults are invited to discuss important matters of faith together with the hope that we can learn much from each other. And, I say important in the sense that we want to discuss what is important to you.

The plan will be for us to meet for 6 sessions on Zoom for one-hour (7-8pm), beginning Thursday, September 11. (Sept. 11/18/25, Oct. 2/9/16).

The focus of our study:

  1. A (very) quick survey of the Bible focusing on the story of salvation history how God continues to reach out to all people and invites us to trust and follow. We will spend a more focused time reflecting on the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).
  2. As part of the Biblical study, we will look at how our understanding of Scripture has been shaped from within an Anabaptist perspective.

More important than anything will be the questions each participant brings to the group. I really look forward to this time of sharing and learning from Scriptures and from each other.

Please let me know if you would like to participate. marv@valleyviewmc.ca

With thanks,

Marv
