Stories of God s People; the Old Testament

Summer Worship Series 2025

Join us for summer worship as we explore wonderful stories from the Old Testament.  For some of us, these stories may bring back memories of learning about them in our childhood. For others, this could be the first introduction to them.  Through these stories, we will see how God was together with people in their times of joy, sorrow and challenges - just as God is with us today in our daily lives.  We are part of a long history of being God s people.

Intergenerational Faith Exploration Group this Fall:

This is an invitation for you to consider joining an intergenerational faith exploration group scheduled for this Fall. What I mean by Intergenerational is that Valleyview youth, young adults and older adults are invited to discuss important matters of faith together with the hope that we can learn much from each other. And, I say important in the sense that we want to discuss what is important to you.

The plan will be for us to meet for 6 sessions on Zoom for one-hour (7-8pm), beginning Thursday, September 11. (Sept. 11/18/25, Oct. 2/9/16).

The focus of our study:

  1. A (very) quick survey of the Bible focusing on the story of salvation history how God continues to reach out to all people and invites us to trust and follow. We will spend a more focused time reflecting on the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).
  2. As part of the Biblical study, we will look at how our understanding of Scripture has been shaped from within an Anabaptist perspective.

More important than anything will be the questions each participant brings to the group. I really look forward to this time of sharing and learning from Scriptures and from each other.

Please let me know if you would like to participate. marv@valleyviewmc.ca

With thanks,

Marv

Valley of the Birdtail - "MC Canada Reads"
Valley of the Birdtail is a powerful true story of racism and reconciliation in Canada. Through two families one Indigenous, one non-Indigenous it traces how neighbouring communities became separate and unequal. Set in Rossburn and the Waywayseecappo First Nation, the book reveals the lasting effects of colonialism and residential schools, while offering a hopeful vision for the future.
