Books to Support Current
Worship and Discussion Times
The Valleyview Library contains a number of
books that extend and challenge our thoughts and conversations about
peacemaking.
A collection of these books is displayed on the library counter.
As our Worship and Second Hour discussions focus on peace and war in
the Middle-East, please take the opportunity to pick
up a book and reflect on an author's thoughts and experiences in various
peacemaking endeavors and as well as the agony and destruction of war.

Responding to the Palestine and Israel conflict
As conflict has
escalated in the region, MCC laments the violence and mourns all lives lost in
Palestine and Israel. MCC remains committed to a just peace for all, and we
invite you to join us in praying for an end to the violence.
We are sharing prayer
requests taken from A
pastoral letter for peace in the Holy Land from Mennonite World Conference in response to the
conflict in Palestine and Israel. We ask churches and individuals to pray that
the violence will end and that conciliation can begin.
·
Pray for the hostages to
return safely to their homes and families.
·
Pray for those who mourn
to be surrounded by loved ones as they grieve.
·
And pray that peace
workers, negotiators and government staff will put people's lives and human
dignity above political or military gains.
MCC is planning an
emergency response to the current crisis with existing partners. Our response
will focus on the humanitarian needs in Gaza, given the vulnerability of the
population and lack of resources available to families. MCC’s work will build
on previous responses to the ongoing conflict, including the distribution of
food and bedding. We are also planning to offer trauma healing support and
housing reconstruction. Donate online at mcc.org/Palestine-Israel.
