Worship Schedule Preview

Our fall worship series at Valleyview will be Ojibwe “A Way of Life” Teachings, inspired by sharing from the book titled Walking Together, by Edith & Neil & Von Gunten. These teachings are commonly referred to as the Seven Grandfather Teachings. Passed down through storytelling for generations in the Anishinaabe indigenous cultures, these guiding principles of character offer the tools to live a good life in connection with each other and in harmony with creation. Join us as we explore our faith connection to these traditional teachings of Love, Respect, Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, Humility, and Truth.

In and Around Valleyview

This Sunday, Sept 24th, we're celebrating World Car Free Day, a chance to reimagine what our cities and towns could look like with fewer cars. I've already had people tell me who they're planning to carpool with, or how they might give the bus a try, or how they plan on walking or biking to church - so exciting!

If you plan on busing, the church has three bus routes that are close by, Routes 1, 10 and 27. Without a pass or tap-card, it costs $3 exactly to ride one-way. Check out londontransit.ca for more details.

If you plan on cycling, the City's cycling map is here. If you don't feel comfortable leaving your bike outside, we plan on leaving some bikes in the coat room.

I hope this will be a fun, social and inspiring journey to church.

Thanks for considering,

Daniel - on behalf of Church Council and Mission & Social Concerns

Singing Together & Learning more about Worship – Upcoming Opportunities:

Do you enjoy singing? Want to learn some new hymns? Are you interested in leading worship or learning more about it? Here are three opportunities to consider:

1. Valleyview Thanksgiving small Choir

At Valleyview on Thanksgiving Sunday, October 8, we are looking for singers to be part of a small choir to provide special music during the worship service.  The music will not be difficult to learn and will involve one rehearsal. If you'd like to sing with this group, email Andrea S at andreastreufert@gmail.com indicate your interest and to learn more details.

2.  Voices Together Resource Day

MCEC is hosting a day filled with worship and singing, plus workshops to explore areas of worship such as music, visuals, children’s time and technology.  This Voices Together Resource Day is on Saturday, October 28 from 9 am - 4:30 pm at Shantz Mennonite Church in Baden.

Here is a link to the schedule for the day including the workshop options:

https://mcec.ca/event/22582-2023-10-28-voices-together-resource-day

Please contact Andrea S if you are interested in attending. andreastreufert@gmail.com

She will provide details for registration and possible carpool options.

3.  Hymn Sing Festival evening

Everyone is invited to a Hymn Sing Festival on Saturday, October 28 at 7pm at Shantz Mennonite Church in Baden.  This time of singing together will focus on songs of hope and lament in our Voices Together hymnal.  No need to register - just come out for a wonderful evening of singing and music.

Worship Committee Survey

Every month, the Worship Committee meets to discuss upcoming services and sermon series. Last month, we turned our conversation to wondering about what a series might look like if it was framed around some specific interests in our congregation. We have drafted a short survey to help inform our planning of future worship services. If you have a moment, we would love to hear from you. Click here to complete survey.
