“A Way of Life” Teachings – Respect
Luke 6:27-36
To honour all
creation is to have respect, so live honourably in
these teachings and in your actions toward all things. Do not waste, and be mindful of the balance of all living things.
Share and give away what you do not need. Treat others the way you would like
to be treated, and do not be hurtful to yourself or others.

Worship Series: “A Way of Life”
Our fall worship series at
Valleyview will be Ojibwe “A Way of Life” Teachings, inspired by sharing from the
book titled Walking Together, by Edith & Neil & Von Gunten.
These teachings are commonly referred to as the Seven Grandfather Teachings. Passed
down through storytelling for generations in the Anishinaabe indigenous cultures,
these guiding principles of character offer the tools to live a good life in
connection with each other and in harmony with creation. Join us as we explore our
faith connection to these traditional teachings of Love, Respect, Courage,
Honesty, Wisdom, Humility, and Truth.

Worship Committee Survey
Every month, the Worship
Committee meets to discuss upcoming services and sermon series. Last month, we
turned our conversation to wondering about what a series might look like if it
was framed around some specific interests in our congregation. We have drafted
a short survey to help inform our planning of future worship services. If you
have a moment, we would love to hear from you. Click here to complete survey.
Sunday School Families BBQ
The families of our Children’s
Sunday School program are invited to a backyard BBQ & Potluck on Friday,
Sept. 22nd at 5:30 p.m., at the home of Kristibeth & Mateo K. Please refer to the Sunday School Families email
invitation and RSVP to Kristibeth by Sept.15th.
If
you did not receive the email invitation sent Sept 1st and have a
child in Grades JK to 7, contact the church office, office@valleyviewmc.ca.

Donations to the Church Budget
For ways to donate please visit www.valleyviewmc.ca/Give.
Total donations received in September: $5,808
Monthly donations target: $23,100
Treasurer’s Update at End of Summer:
Sept. 4, 2023
Valleyview congregation,
As you will
notice from the weekly updates from the Church Office, at end of August
we are 67% through the year and we are tracking to 63% of required
donations with four months remaining in the year.
Our 2023 budget was based on 90% pledged
dollars, requiring Valleyview to makeup $33,265 in incremental donations or
fundraising to achieve our agreed target.
We currently
expect to realize $86,911 this fall from outstanding pledges and will continue
to require $12,618 in incremental donations/fundraising to meet our
target. Assuming all pledged dollars are received- that equates to
an incremental $3154.50 in each of the four
remaining months of this year.
Thank-you for your continued support.
